Frequently Asked Questions

  • You can find the VMA curriculum and structure here explained in great detail.

  • The first step is to apply for a free call and fill in the form. In approximately 48 hours you will get a link for the call where you’ll get all your questions answered and we will decide if VMA is right for you. If that is indeed the case, we will sign the VMA contract and you will get the invoice and the payment link. We will also decide on the gear that you need to buy and order it together before you officially start.

  • You can start VMA at the beginning of every month (first Monday of every month) if there are spots available.

You can find out what is the earliest you can start on our free call once you apply to VMA.

  • You can see the VMA pricing here.

The full payment is done before you start VMA.

  • VMA is a very complex and intense film course that will require a lot of your energy. It is recommended you don’t take VMA while you have a full time job or you’re studying full time.

But if you have a part time job or your studies are more flexible and you have the time to invest in learning everyday (4-6 hours per day) you can do it.

  • Yes, you have access to VMA and all the VMA updates indefinitely after you finish VMA.

  • Yes, once you join VMA you have access to the VMA community where you can talk to all of the VMA members around the world.

  • This is a very complex filmmaking course and you need a minimum of 4-6 hours per day, Monday-Saturday (6 days per week).

  • Once you apply to VMA we will decide together on a camera, lens and gimbal that best fit your needs and budget.

  • You need approximately 3000 EUR for the gear (camera, lens, gimbal, tripod and a few smaller objects like an ND filter and a hard-drive).

  • You need to purchase the gear before you start VMA. You will start using the gear in Week 2.

  • This is something to be discussed on our free-30-mins call once you apply to VMA.

Depending on your specific camera and lens I will either advise it to keep it or upgrade it.

  • Yes you can. You can pay a deposit of 1 month and save a spot for a date of your choosing.

  • VMA is for all ages older than 16. As long as you have an interest in learning filmmaking the curriculum will fit you no matter how old you are.

  • If you follow the VMA curriculum closely you can start making money in month 4.

The results you can expect from VMA are influenced by a number of factors: your location (bigger city - more opportunities), the budget you have for your gear (better gear-better images therefore you will have a competitive advantage and it will be easier for you to monetize your skills), the niche you choose, the effort you put in, how consistent you are.

If you start VMA with the intention of monetizing your videography skills as fast as possible that will become our main focus and we will double down on that part of the process.

  • Monday or Tuesday at a time we will set together that will fit best with both of our time-zones.

  • Yes you can if the trip isn’t longer than 2 weeks otherwise that will hinder your progress with the course.

  • You can see videos produced by the VMA students that started with no prior experience here (scroll to the bottom of the page).

  • Yes you can. Mention this on our call and we will send you a custom invoice.

  • You can study VMA even though you don’t want to become a videographer. Mention this on our call and we will focus less on “videography” and more on your actual filmmaking goals.

You can decide for yourself how you want to integrate the cinematography skills in your life. You can learn it so you can add filmmaking to your reportoire of skills. You can also take VMA for your personal growth, enjoyment and the desire to have a skill that can help you document your life better.

Founder’s note

Learning filmmaking can be confusing and challenging. There's a ton of information out there, but it's all scattered and overwhelming. Where do you even start? Which advice should you listen to first? What gear should you buy? And how can you be sure that you're actually improving?

Beginner filmmakers usually face two main challenges:

  1. Getting good at the craft and actually learning filmmaking. Should you go to film school or learn on your own?

  2. Turning your camera skills into a profitable career and making a living out of it.

That's why I created VMA—to help you get the essential information from film school while also teaching you the business and marketing skills you need to turn your visual talents into a well-paying job.

And the best part? It only takes 4 months.

For the past 3 years, I’ve seen how VMA has been a total game-changer for my students' progress with filmmaking. It's been like watching a movie where the plot keeps getting better. I'd love for you to give it a try and see the difference it can make.
